DOLCE & GABBANA DUBAI X

CURIOSITY

Step into Dubai’s brand-new DOLCE & GABBANA concept store which offers a blend of avant-garde design and a visionary & futuristic approach to the famous Italian fashion brand.

CURIOSITY, designed by Gwenael Nicolas has unveiled a brand-new Dolce & Gabbana Dubai, concept store, located right in the heart of the vibrant Mall of the Emirates.

It’s a groundbreaking space that transcends traditional retail environments.

The Interior design of the « DG Forum » is a celebration of innovation and creativity. A series of interconnected boxes dominate the space, each housing a curated selection of Dolce & Gabbana’s iconic pieces from various collections. These boxes serve as both display units and intimate, private shopping alcoves, offering customers a personalized and immersive journey through the brand’s evolution.

GWENAEL NICOLAS studio in Tokyo, Curiosity, explains to SOON magazine how he liked to push boundaries and shaping the future of luxury fashion and lifestyle.

What is so exciting, for you, to collaborate, once again with D&G?

IT IS ALWAYS A PRIVILEGE TO WORK WITH CREATIVES LIKE DOMENICO DOLCE, PRECIOUS TIME TO UNDERSTAND NEW IDEAS AND THE DYNAMICS OF THE CREATIVE PROCESS.

HE IS ALSO A VERY ERUDITE AND PASSIONATE PERSON WHO SHARES HIS KNOWLEDGE AND IDEAS VERY OPENLY.

HE KNOWS EVERYTHING, SO MY JOB IS TO SURPRISE HIM WITH SOMETHING UNEXPECTED BUT RELEVANT TO HIS VISION, A CANVAS FOR PRESENTING HIS COLLECTIONS.

How long did this project took to be completely finished?

IT TOOK ME ABOUT A YEAR FROM THE FIRST SKETCH TO COMPLETION ALONG MANY PRESENTATIONS WITH DOMENICO DOLCE.

Tell us the story telling of this project?

WE HAVE A LONG HISTORY OF COLLABORATING ON SPECIAL PROJECTS IN LONDON, MIAMI AND TOKYO.

THIS TIME IT IS MORE OF A CONCEPT TO BE IMPLEMENTED IN DIFFERENT LOCATIONS, DUBAI BEING THE FIRST.

OTHER PROJECTS WILL FOLLOW IN THE COMING YEARS.

THE CHALLENGE WAS TO DEFINE A STRONG ARCHITECTURAL CODE THAT IS INSTANTLY RECOGNISABLE AS DG.

AND TO PRESENT THE COLLECTION IN A MINIMALIST YET IMPRESSIVE ENVIRONMENT.
